Luke Turns Purple
Monday 17-03-2008 was a special day for me. Luke Farnsworth (my brother) has been fighting
& training with me in one form or another ever since I was born. He was a major influence in my
decision to start training in Shootfighting & BJJ. Training in several styles together, always trying
to add new knowledge to our arsenals. At one point myself being warned & Luke being completly
banned from one club for turning sparring into a No Holds Barred match.
Clearly we were ready to take the next step. We settled into another freestyle club & supplemented
with some No Holds Barred in the park on weekends with whoever wished to put it all on the line.
Our frustration levels grew with the lack of participation & I continued to go from club to club looking
for an instructor who could quench our thirst. Then one day a friend brought me a magazine with a
picture of an instructor in Melbourne, John Will, advertising Shootfighting. After a quick phone call we
were given a number for a club in Manly, enter Anthony Lange. The rest as they say is history.
After a few years break Luke started training with me again when I open the doors of my Castle Hill
Academy. Always prepared to help & bring himself down a level for sake of other students, I am very
proud to promote Luke to purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
